Royal Romance – one of our two runners at Sedgefield on Tuesday

THE Paul Robson Racing horsebox will be up down the A1 like a yo-yo this week. We’ve runners heading to Musselburgh’s jump season opener on Thursday and hopefully another at Doncaster on Friday. Then we’ll be back on the Great North Road for a time again on Sunday before we take a right-hand turn for the A69 to Carlisle.
Sedgefield is our first port of call today, with Royal Romance and Inoue our two runners at the County Durham track.
We need to get ROYAL ROMANCE (12.55) to finish off a race first and foremost. She’s been as green as grass in both of her runs for us so far, in a bumper at Hexham and then in a maiden hurdle at Sedgefield three weeks ago. Both times she’s been to the races, nothing has really gone to plan. It’s only been minor things, but it would be good if she can have a nice clean run at things this time and we can look to build from there. Ed Austin rides.
INOUE (1.25) has a very low official mark, so it was hardly a surprise that he fared better on his handicap debut over this same track and trip last time. He was wearing a tongue tie for the first time that day, too, which seemed to help. But he was still keener than I’d like, so we’re sticking the hood straight back on here after giving it a go without one last time.
This horse needs to learn to settle, but the only way he’s going to learn to do that is by getting him more and more experience of racing. So that’s what we’re doing. Sean Quinlan is a good man to have on our side for that task today.
I’ll be going in the horsebox with both runners and will be on track to meet some new Members of the Paul Robson Racing Club. If anyone going to Sedgefield is interested in becoming a Member – and part owner of our Club horse L’Insurge, an exciting three-year-old by the sire Tunis – please come over and have a chat.
Cheers,
Paul

Okavango Delta – Musselburgh

OKAVANGO DELTA (3.15) won really well at Musselburgh ten days ago and the manner of it suggested he’d get three miles.

Cannock Park

CANNOCK PARK (12.25) is our sole runner at Kelso on Borders National Day, going back over hurdles after starting out novice chasing earlier in the season.

Carlisle

I was delighted with how our two horses ran at Musselburgh on Thursday. Although she didn’t win, in a funny way I was happiest with Aazza because she really looked like she wanted it again.

Musselburgh

We’re heading to Musselburgh tomorrow with two runners as they kick off their jumps season up in East Lothian.
