Okavango Delta – Musselburgh and Merry Christmas

OKAVANGO DELTA (1.08) lines up in Musselburgh’s 2m4f handicap chase tomorrow, a couple of weeks after making his comeback there.

We expected him to run well last time over a shorter trip, but were probably a bit surprised at just how close he went – he ran an absolute blinder to finish second! The horse that was third that day won at Catterick last week which adds a nice bit of substance to the form.

The step back up to two-and-a-half tomorrow will suit Okavango perfectly, he’s run some of his best races over that distance. Musselburgh is a track we know he likes and ground conditions are fine.

This is a tougher assignment than what he faced last time in the same 0-110 grade, on paper it looks a better race with a couple of recent winners in there.

But he’s fit and well, so hopefully another performance like that last one will see him go close.

He will be our only runner before Christmas so this is the final blog before the big day, so on behalf of everyone here at Hazelrigg I’d like to wish you a merry Christmas!

Thanks for reading our blogs throughout the year, we always try to be open and transparent about our horses so I hope you’ve found them informative.

Best wishes!
