Newcastle

TWO runners at Newcastle tomorrow and again they line up in the same race at 12.47.  When we had three going against each other at Carlisle a few weeks ago it was all about getting them out racing under the right conditions and building up experience. The same applies this weekend.

FOREVA ALFIE was one of them and while he was pulled up that day we were not downbeat about it because it was his first run for two years. He’d run in a Sedgefield bumper back in 2022 then had time off after that, so just getting him going again was the main thing. He’s come out of that race well and will benefit from the experience he’ll get again this weekend.

DIAMOND MIX made his hurdles debut that day and put up an excellent effort to finish fourth. He’s a horse we like a lot and definitely one for the future. He’s going there to run well again but the learning won’t be lost on him either. Whatever he does this season will be great but we know he’s a chaser in the making so it’s just about teaching him his job and encouraging him to put it all together.

It was a stunning morning here at Hazelrigg when we worked the horses on the grass. We’ll have plenty of runners coming up in the next few weeks so I’ve compiled a quick video explaining our plans for a few of them.
