Newcastle – Ravenswell

RAVENSWELL (6.30) delighted us with the way he ran at Carlisle a couple of weeks ago, just bumping into one he couldn’t properly see off up the long hill there.

We now take him to Newcastle for a 0-55 over 1m2f which is a slight drop in grade and a step back in trip.

He’s been a bit slow away from the stalls in his runs for us so far and that was evident again at Carlisle, but he was able to make it up. We feel he’s getting sharper and better at it with more racing, so hopefully he’ll get away quickly tomorrow.

We really do like him, he’s such an honest horse and is someone we’ve seen make steady progress during the time he’s been with us as he’s learned his trade.

Newcastle split this race because of the amount of entries so we’ve ended up in the second division of it, which on paper does look like the weaker event.

He’s come out of the Carlisle race well, he’s fresh and ready to go so we’re hopeful of more steps forward. Fingers-crossed that will be enough for him to win!
