New Gallop

We have decided to put down a new long gallop so work has been going on to lift the old Martin Collins surface, dig out the foundations and lay down tonnes of woodchip in its place.

As you can see, lifting and laying six furlongs of material is a fairly sizeable task but the guys have done a fantastic job getting everything sorted for us.

We will re-use some of the old surface in our indoor ride and will store the rest in case we are able to create an additional schooling area in future – so it’s not going to go to waste.

We have been working the horses on the excellent Wexford deep sand so far but once the new hill gallop beds properly in that will give us the best of both worlds.

It has been a quiet time on the racing front with the mid-summer National Hunt break but that doesn’t mean the work stops – far from it! We’ve been busy bringing in the remainder of the horses for the season ahead, getting them up to fitness and also doing other essential jobs like stocking up the hay barns for the months to come.

I’m also currently over in Ireland looking to add more new horses to our string – so keep an eye out on our Horses For Sale section of the new website!

Racing starts again soon so we’ll hopefully have some runners to talk about in the near future.
