Okavango Delta doing what he does best on his way to winning at Musselburgh last season

MUSSELBURGH’S new jumps season gets underway on Friday and we’re delighted to be heading there with three runners.

We kick off with KING HORSE (1.05), who has his second run for us in the maiden hurdle and his owners The Chatton Partnership, who are a great bunch of people. He came to us from the point-to-point field and we’re still feeling our way with him, but one thing we do know is that his future is very much going to be over fences.

He’s a beautiful moving horse so, while 2m around a sharp track like Musselburgh might not be ideal for him, I’d much rather run him on nice ground than on soft or heavy ground elsewhere. Hopefully he’ll have learned from the experience of his debut at Carlisle two-and-a-half weeks ago and we’ll also learn a bit more about him again. Ed Austin rides.

Next up is OKAVANGO DELTA (2.13), who has plenty of winning form at Musselburgh for the One For The Road Flower syndicate who own him. His two wins at the track last season came over 2m4f, while he also ran really well when second over nearly 3m at this meeting 12 months ago.

We’re coming back to 2m with him here, which means he’ll need to be on his game, but when he is we don’t think he’s a horse who lacks a bit of speed. His jumping is his major asset and our stable jockey Ryan Mania is a top rider for getting horses into a great rhythm with their jumping.

Away She Goes gave Paul Robson Racing Club members a day to remember when winning at Kelso in May

Finally, one of our two Paul Robson Racing Club horses AWAY SHE GOES (3.20) makes her return to action in the conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdles that rounds out the card. She gave PRRC Members a first winner at Kelso back in May and ran with real credit in two subsequent starts last spring.

Decent ground suits her, which is why she skipped Sedgefield last week (along with Okavango Delta), but I’d be more confident about her chances if this race was over 2m rather than 2m4f. She’s summered really well, she looks a picture and I’ve been very pleased with her recent work. Fingers crossed she gets the trip.
