Fete Champetre – Perth Preview

WELL, it has been some start to the season for us with three winners out of three thanks to our double at Kelso and then Okavango Delta’s win down at Worcester on Tuesday.

We were absolutely thrilled with the way he ran, we hoped he’d be the best horse in the race and he proved it by jumping from fence to fence under a great ride by Ryan Mania to win by two lengths.

He was a lovely price at 8/1 as well!

The onus to keep the ball rolling falls on FETE CHAMPETRE (2.50) at Perth tomorrow, who will step up to 3m for the first time under Ryan.

He’s never run at the track before but showed he liked Musselburgh by winning there a couple of years ago and form often translates between the two courses.

They’ve been putting plenty of water down during the dry spell we’re having so we’re expecting it to be proper good ground, which will be ideal for him.

He was running a cracker of a race at Ayr in March before falling when in front two from home and while his jumping was a bit sticky at Kelso last time, we’ve given him over a month’s break so if he gets back to the form of two months ago we’d be hopeful of a good run.

He’s bred to get these sort of trips so hopefully moving him up in distance will bring out some improvement in him.

It looks a competitive race with three previous course winners in the field, but our lad is certainly capable of making his presence felt if everything clicks the way we hope it will.
