Cannock Park Comeback

CANNOCK PARK (12.42) makes his first start for nearly a year at Kelso this afternoon (it’ll only just be afternoon despite it being the fifth race on the card!) and we’re hoping to get him a nice reintroduction back to the track.

Plenty of people have asked me about him recently since they saw he was entered again and the honest answer to the question ‘how’s he going to do?’ is that we’ll just have to wait and see.

We all know he’s a classy horse on his day but he had a tough year last season, going chasing then suffering some physical problems.

Those have all been resolved now and he’s had plenty of time to get over everything that was bothering him.

He’s very well in himself, he’s been away for a couple of racecourse gallops and has enjoyed Kelso before.

The aim today really is to just get him back out over hurdles here, hopefully see him enjoy racing and have somewhere to start again with him.

We’re excited about getting him going again but we’re also quite cautious because it has been such a long road over the last 11 months and you don’t want to assume anything until you see it actually happen.

One major positive is we’re going into Kelso today on the back of a winner after Diamond Mix’s superb display at Hexham on Friday.

His jumping was immense, bar a silly error at the last, but you have to remember he’s a novice still.

Ryan gave him a very good ride, the way he got over his fences won him the race, really, so we can be excited about him as the season progresses.
