Aazza – Perth

WE can’t wait to get the jumpers going again after the midsummer break, with Perth tomorrow evening getting the show on the road again.

AAZZA (5.35) will head north for a crack at the 3m handicap hurdle, taking on 11 rivals. She’s been great for us over the last year or so, finishing placed in each of her last four runs.

We gave her a break after Southwell in early June because she’s a mare who can come into season a lot, so hopefully that has freshened her up a bit because she’d had a busy enough few months leading up to that.

We worked her the other day alongside Breizh River and she showed up really well, which is encouraging because we know how good he is.

Ryan Mania told us he felt it would be wise to take some weight off her back this time, which is a selfless decision, so we’re delighted to get Charlie Maggs on board taking five off. He’s one of the best conditionals in the north so we’re glad to have him.

In this 0-105 she will get a bit of weight from some of the others as well as Charlie’s claim, so we’re going there in the belief she can be pretty competitive.

She will love the ground and the only question mark, really, is how she’ll handle going right-handed because most of her best form is the other way around. But, that said, she has run decent races at Carlisle and Musselburgh in the past, so hopefully it’s not an issue.
