Wetherby runners

TWO runners at Wetherby today, with AAZZA (4.10) up first in the 3m handicap hurdle. She’s a mare who on her day can produce a big performance but she’s very hit and miss. We were delighted with her run at Musselburgh late last year wearing cheekpieces for the first time, but then she disappointed at Catterick after a break to freshen her up.

The handicapper has given her a chance, with today’s mark of 87 the lowest she’s been in her career. She’s never been to Wetherby before but having won at Doncaster in the past, the track and the good, good to soft conditions should suit.

She’s working away well at home and she’s got everything she needs to be competitive, but in all honesty only she knows which Aazza will turn up today!

In the bumper we finally get our Paul Robson Racing Club horse L’Insurge out and running. As one of three four-year-olds in the race he gets a nice allowance in what looks a pretty competitive heat.

Tuna, as we call him at home, has impressed us in his work and done everything we hoped to see in the build-up to this. He’s fit and ready to go, so we’re looking forward to what will hopefully be an encouraging first racecourse experience

The doors of the Racing Club are still open if anyone wants to get in touch about becoming a member…
